Many characterisitcs make Lake Forest a special place. We enjoy the idyllic woodland setting, historic architecture, a wonderful downtown, excellent schools and a beautiful lakefront. Our form of government is another feature that makes Lake Forest unique. We have a non-partisan, stable government system with term-limited officials. This is a contributing factor to the City's unenhanced AAA bond rating.
The Caucus system is an important part of our government. Every registered voter in the City is a member, and they elect 42 citizen volunteers to serve on the Caucus. Each year, the Caucus interviews and recommends to the Mayor for appointment over 100 candidates for the City Boards and Commissions. In addition, the Caucus slates candidates for public office including Mayor, Aldermen, and School Boards.
How can you participate in this process? You can join us by completing an online volunteer profile form. Or, you can volunteer for a Board or Commission or refer a friend using the same form. Finally, because the Caucus relies on donations to complete its work we hope you will make a contribution which You can donate here and support the work of the Caucus.
There are many benefits to participating in the Caucus process. You get to know your City and help keep Lake Forest a special place. We invite you to participate.
